Enhancing Social-Economic Activities of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian Women in Kosovo

To truly impact women in building and growing their businesses, first we need to know in what context they operate, what obstacles they face, what their competitive edge is, and what do they need to succeed.

The agreement signed today between the Network of Roma Ashkali and Egyptian Women of Kosovo (RROGRAEK) and the PPSE aims to do just this. RROGRAEK will initially analyze the needs and opportunities for women businesses in Prizren, Pristina, Gjakovë/Djakovica and Pejë/Peć, to be followed by tailored business training, and finally three businesses operating in PPSE focus sector with growth potential will be awarded a small grant each.

The systemic change to be introduced by this activity is twofold. On one hand, RROGRAEK will increase its prominence as a non-for-profit service provider for women from these communities. On the other hand, the participating business women will serve as an example to girls to consider entrepreneurship as a means of self-empowerment.
